Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) candidate in the Ol Kalou by-election, Samuel Ngotho Kamau, is set for a win, according to the party and its allied politicians.
As the counting process goes on, DCP has already congratulated their candidate, who they say is set for a landslide victory.
“God has done it…Congratulations to the good people of Ol Kalou,” DCP said in a statement on July 16, 2027.
Waiguru, Nyoro declare Kamau winner
Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru has also sent out her message congratulating DCP’s Kamau.
“Congratulations, Ngotho. Well fought, well won. Serve Kalou with honor. Good campaign, Samuel Muchina Nyagah, you had a great race. Sina mengi ya kusema kwa sasa,” Waiguru stated in a statement.
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro was also not left behind as he declared Kamau the winner of the mini-poll.
“Congratulations, Sammy Douglas Kamau Ngotho, on your decisive election as the MP for Ol Kalou. Congratulations to Senator John Methu and Hon Wanjiku Muhia for leading the team and candidate to victory,” Nyoro said.
Violence
The lawmaker, however, said that the process was marred by unprecedented state-sponsored violence that he said must be condemned ahead of next year’s general elections.
“It is the sole responsibility of the Government to protect citizens, and the pattern of lethargy and active condoning of violence was blatant,” he said.
“Our state institutions, especially the IEBC and all security organs, must strive to steer clear of political alignments and serve all Kenyans fairly with dignity and decorum. Congratulations to the great people of Ol Kalou.
“We wish Hon Sammy Ngotho the best as he serves in the new capacity as a Member of the National Assembly. We are African, and Africa is our Business.
Orengo’s message
“DCP’s Sammy Douglas Waweru’s decisive win in Ol Kalou represents a triumph for ordinary citizens. It is a clear signal that the ground has shifted, and President Ruto should prepare for a single term. From Mt. Kenya to the Lake region, the people have spoken, it is WAN-TAM!”
IEBC calls for patience
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), however, is yet to declare the official result.
“We urge the public to rely on official communication from the Commission and to refrain from sharing unverified information that may undermine public confidence in the electoral process,” IEBC said.
“The commission remains committed to delivering a transparent, peaceful, and credible by-election.”
