Borabu Member of Parliament Ben Momanyi has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta, also party leader Jubilee party, to extend his purge to disobedient house leadership and party members in the National Assembly.
This comes days after Elgeyo Marakwet County Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, was ousted as the Senate Leader of Majority and replaced by KANU’s West Pokot Senator – Samuel Poghisio.
Speaking at his home constituency, the Wiper legislator – also a member of the parliamentary Service Commission – termed the latest attack on the President from the Jubilee lawmakers and leaders as unfortunate and a mockery to the institution of the Presidency.
He welcomed the changes at the Senate and asked the ruling party’s leader to turn his focus the National Assembly to chase out legislators with key positions who have been undermining him.
“The president and party leader of the Jubilee party has given some people an opportunity to lead and they have turned against him. They are abusing the president and demeaning the seat. Why can’t they resign so that they join the opposition side of the government,” posed Momanyi.
“I want to congratulate the president for stamping authority in the party and in the senate. He (President Uhuru) should consider coming to the national assembly and tame some of the leaders who have chose to bite the hands that fed them.”
Momanyi on the other hand criticized DP Ruto for disrespecting the president by engineering his lieutenants to start 2022 early succession campaigns and demeaning presidency.
“If you (DP) want to be president of the republic of Kenya, wait for your time and you will be respected. We cannot afford a country where the Presidency is humiliated by leaders aligned to you and abuse the President who is a symbol of national unity, respect 9President) Uhuru Kenyatta so that you may be respected if your time comes.”
The changes were effected after President Kenyatta called for a senate parliamentary group meeting at state house early last week.
Other senators who failed to honor sermons by their party leader have been suspended from the party pending ‘disciplinary’ actions for what was termed as gross insubordination and misconduct.
They include nominated senators Millicent Omanga, Mary Seneta Yiane, Falhada Dekow, Victor Pregei, Naomi Waqo and Christine Gona.
The MP was speaking in Borabu TTI where he distributed over 10,000 masks made by the Borabu TTI and 3,000 donated by the government through the ministry of Interior and Coordination of national government headed by Dr Fred Matiang’i.
