Karungo wa Thangwa, the embattled Kiambu County executive member says he is ready to have his reported impeachment proceedings at the county assembly held in public and in the full glare of the public.
Thangwa, in charge of the department of youth, sports, ICT and communication, says he has learnt of the intention to remove him from office through media reports but dismisses the attempt as a political move meant “to malign my name and settle political scores”.
The formerly member of county assembly for Ngewa ward now says he expects the assembly will invite him to “set the record straight”.
“Accordingly, and in line with the constitutional principles of accountability, transparency and openness, I welcome all media houses to provide live coverage if and when I appear beforehand the committee,” says Thangwa in a statement to the media.
“I urge the honourable members of the county assembly to exercise honesty, objectivity and integrity when addressing this issue and to refuse to be used to settle political scores, which will only further destabilize county development programmes and service delivery to the great people of Kiambu.”
