Police have managed to arrest one suspect linked to an event of robbery with violence in a salon in Saika.
In a statement released on August 4, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the suspect was arrested by detectives from Kayole Police Station. The suspect is linked to the robbery that occurred on July 26, 2026, during a Chama meeting in a salon at Saika.
“The detectives swooped in, arresting Dennis Macharia, aka Mahua, following an intelligence-led operation in the Korogocho area. The suspect, together with his accomplice who remains at large, stormed the salon, armed with a pistol, and robbed a group of unsuspecting women of Ksh50,000 and mobile phones,” the DCI statement said.
“Upon his arrest, detectives recovered a motorcycle, registration KMDE 473B, believed to have been used by the suspects during the robbery, along with two knives, now securely detained as exhibits.”
“The suspect is currently undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment. Meanwhile, detectives are pursuing additional leads to trail and apprehend the remaining suspect who is still at large.”
Serial car breaker arrested
Meanwhile, a suspect linked to a syndicate terrorising motorists at parking yards across Nairobi and its environs is now behind bars, DCI said.
“On 3rd August 2026, a motorist returned to her parked car at Sameer Park to a shocking discovery: her vehicle broken into, a laptop, tablet, and charger gone without a trace. But sharp-eyed guards weren’t fooled for long. Their suspicion fell on a Toyota Land Cruiser, Reg. No. KDT 122Q, idling nearby with two occupants who looked far too eager to leave.”
“The moment guards moved to search the vehicle, the driver floored it, racing for the exit in a desperate bid for freedom, while a second occupant bailed out on foot and vanished into the streets. But the getaway ended where it started. Blocked at the gate, the vehicle was cornered, and Malcolm Okello, 35, was placed under arrest.”
Search
According to the police, a search of the vehicle blew the case wide open, uncovering the stolen laptop and charger, a motor vehicle number plate KDG 453W, wireless door jammers and a metallic door breaker, the toolkit of a seasoned car break-in syndicate.
“Preliminary investigations confirmed the vehicle had been fitted with fake plates to dodge detection and is now linked to a string of similar break-ins targeting locked vehicles across Nairobi and beyond,” the statement added.
“Okello is currently undergoing processing pending arraignment, with the recovered exhibits and impounded vehicle held as exhibits. Meanwhile, detectives are hot on the trail of the second suspect who fled the scene.”
