Embakasi East MP Babu Owino dismisses claims of Linda Mwananchi division

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has dismissed claims that the Linda Mwananchi faction of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is a divided house.

The vocal legislator made the remarks on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, as the outfit continues to establish itself as a mainstream political force in the country.

“We are members of Linda Mwananchi. We are all principals in Linda Mwananchi, and we believe in service delivery and delivering services to the people,” Owino stated while dismissing claims of division.

The lawmaker was named as a top-performing MP in the country in the latest report by InfoTrak and stressed that one can still work even when they are not aligned with the government.

“When you see Mheshimwa Mukunji, Mheshimwa Kalasinga, and me, we are not in government, yet we are among the top leaders in this nation. That tells you clearly that it is not about being in government for you to work; it is about the vision,” he said.

Owino defends Linda Mwananchi

While defending Linda Mwananchi from attacks, Owino declined to lay out the plans for whom they will form a coalition with going forward.

“As people of Linda Mwananchi, we don’t accept any nonsensical statements against Linda Mwananchi. Linda Mwananchi must stand strong,” Babu said.

“If we must unite, we will have to unite with those who matter to us to fight for the interests of Kenyans,” he further noted.

“I don’t know where to start, but those are tomorrow’s problems. Today’s problem is about Infotrack and what we have won today. We don’t want to dilute this. At the right time, we are going to communicate where we will belong,” he said.
