Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has completed a return to Spanish football after joining newly-promoted Deportivo La Coruna from Marseille on a contract that runs until 2028.

The Gabon international leaves the French club despite having one year remaining on his deal, ending a successful spell in which he scored 44 goals in 92 appearances across two stints.

Aubameyang first joined Marseille in 2023 before spending a season with Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah. He returned to the Ligue 1 side in 2025 before sealing his latest move to Spain.

Deportivo welcomed the experienced striker by highlighting the quality he will bring to the squad as they prepare for life back in La Liga.

“His career demonstrates exceptional consistency at the highest level,” the club said in a statement.

Deportivo are back in La Liga

The 37-year-old arrives with a wealth of experience after playing for some of Europe’s biggest clubs. He made his name at Borussia Dortmund before moving to Arsenal, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading forwards. He later had spells at Chelsea and Barcelona.

His previous time in Spain came during a six-month stay at Barcelona in 2022, where he scored 13 goals in 24 appearances and played an important role during the second half of the season.

Deportivo are back in La Liga after spending eight years outside Spain’s top division and will hope Aubameyang’s proven goalscoring record and experience can help the club secure its place among the country’s elite.
