Blogger Robert Alai has been detained for 14 days to allow the Anti Terror Police Unit (ATPU) time to investigate, Senior Resident Magistrate Sinkiyian Tobiko ruled that the 30 days that were being sought were long.
AP inspector Wifred Maiyo of Kahawa West AP Post has also been arrested for sharing photos of officers killed in Wajir terror attack with Blogger Robert Alai.
On Tuesday, Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) revealed that the blogger will face charges related to disclosure of information in relation to terrorist activities.
Alai and Safari were arrested and taken to court after police accused them of being sympathisers of Somalia-based Al-Shabaab terror group
Alai with his co-accused were presented before Senior Resident Magistrate Tobiko Sinkiyan earlier on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the anti-terror police who arrested the accused, the two posted online photos of officers who were killed in the June 15 terror attack in Wajir.
Defence lawyers had opposed the application, saying Alai and Safari have known homes and places of work hence no need for the long detention.
Police told the court that the photos Alai posted on Twitter were taken by Al-Shabaab at the scene of the attack and sent to the duo.
