Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has disclosed that suspended Chief Executive officer Robert Muthomi will not be part of his team.
He said despite Muthomi being cleared over from integrity questions, he will not resume his previous position, effectively confirming Barry Otieno to the position he has been holding in acting capacity for nearly three months.
“We congratulate our former CEO for being cleared by the Sports Tribunal which has cited several issues that we should correct. However, he has other things to do and I can confirm to you he will not be part of our team but we do wish him all the best in his future career,” said Mwendwa.
Meanwhile, Mwendwa insists Kenya Premier League clubs that fail to honour three matches will be relegated to the second tier.
“We are sticking to football rules which we can’t bend to satisfy some few clubs and individuals. Club licensing which was signed by all the participating clubs had evidence that each club was able to honour their League assignments. Why change now?
“Alternatively, the owners of those clubs can sell their clubs to interested parties. KPL whom we are ready to work with lost over KSh600 million from sponsorship while we as a federation lost KS200 million. Nothing can stop the League.”
He disclosed the Federation has so far secured a radio sponsor whom he declined to disclose.
