Equitable Party leader, Gilbert Shanga, wants the government to launch a public sensitization plan on why Kenya needs quarantine centres. He says all health sector stakeholders should be involved in the exercise.
Shanga argues that this is a key measure for early preparations to effectively handle Ebola patients in the event cases are reported in Kenya.
He called out government for lying to Kenyans over the Laikipia quarantine center, saying it is obvious that the center was being set up exclusively for Americans.
According to him, Kenyans are justified to oppose the “noble plan” due to public misinformation, from the government itself.
Shanga warned that other countries may start imposing travel restrictions on Kenyans if it is confirmed that Ebola patients were being moved from elsewhere to Kenya.
He emphasized the centres should be understood as facilities meant to serve Kenyans and not only for patients from outside the country.
