Police have arrested four more suspects linked to the chaos that rocked the Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisii on July 3, 2026.

The latest arrests have been made following a sustained operation by detectives based at Kisii Central in collaboration with officers from Keumbu Police Station.

“The crackdown on individuals linked to the violent disruption along the Kisii–Keroka Road has intensified, with detectives arresting four more suspects, bringing the total number of arrests to seven,” a statement by DCI on July 5, 2026, read.

“The latest arrests were made during a sustained intelligence-led operation conducted by detectives from DCI Kisii Central in collaboration with officers from Keumbu Police Station.”

The police have intensified the crackdown and nabbed more, and the investigation continues to arrest more.

“The four suspects, Meboline Mostiri, Amos Ntabo, Brandon Ombaba, and Julius Obegi Orangi, are currently undergoing processing pending arraignment. Investigations are ongoing as detectives continue to pursue additional suspects believed to have participated in the incident,” the statement added.

“The DCI reiterates its commitment to holding accountable all those who resort to violence, destruction of property, or any acts that threaten public safety. Those responsible will be pursued relentlessly and brought before the courts in accordance with the law.”

Earlier arrests

On Saturday, the police had confirmed that three suspects had already been arrested and promised that more are being pursued in relation to the chaos that disrupted the opposition’s rally.

“In response, officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kisii, Kisii Central, and Keumbu Police Station moved swiftly and arrested three suspects, who are currently in custody,” the police said.

“A more detailed analysis of the video, alongside wider investigative efforts, is underway with a view to making further arrests,” it added.

“The NPS strongly condemns the events depicted. Political intolerance, in whatever form, is unacceptable and will be rigorously pursued through the criminal justice system.”
