A top KCPE performer from Kisii County is disappointed after she was called to join Pangani Girls’ High School, a national public school in Nairobi County.
The girl, 14, who sat her national exams at a primary school in Homa Bay County, scored 409 marks out of the possible 500 in the 2022 KCPE exam.
The girl, whom we’ll conceal her identity to protect her from possible bullying, says she only wants to join the Kenya High School.
She said she chose the Kenya High School as her first choice, but failed to secure placement in circumstances she’s yet to understand.
Her parents claim that a teacher at her primary school re-arranged the teenager’s order of secondary school preference.
“My daughter is disappointed. She’s refused to eat and hardly sleeps. She cries often and appears deep in thought most times,” her father told The Standard.
“She really wants to join the Kenya High School and walk in the footsteps of her two elder sisters, who studied at the Alliance Girls’ High School, and are now pursuing degree courses in medicine,” added the teenager’s parent.
The girl’s father is now appealing to the Ministry of Education to intervene and help his daughter secure placement to the Kenya High School.
“It’s three days now since the placement results were released, and my daughter is yet to eat any meaningful meal because of disappointment. I wish someone wipes her tears,” said the girl’s father.
Both the Kenya High School and Pangani Girls’ High School are top institutions that consistently post good results in KCSE exams.
