Kurunzi News Managing Editor Milton Nyakundi was all grateful as he marked his birthday after English football giants Manchester United club sent him a personalized birthday message as he celebrated his 38th birthday.
Nyakundi is a paid-up member and a long-time die-hard fan of the Red Devils since his boyhood and continued that passion for the club during and after his time as a sports news anchor at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, KBC.
Nyakundi took to social media to express his gratitude for the birthday wishes from family, Manchester United and friends, pledging his continued support for the Old Trafford outfit.
“Thank you family, thank you dear friends, thank you Manchester United for the pleasant surprise this morning and above all thanks to the Almighty God,” he wrote on his Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The message read: “EVERYONE AT MANCHESTER UNITED WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU A HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILTON!”
“In addition to all the treasured wishes on this day from my dear family and friends, this is a very special one from my favourite club Manchester United which I have supported for 32 years and been a paid-up member for almost 10 years now.”
After his departure from Mediamax in 2015, Nyakundi founded Kurunzi News, a vibrant online news platform and one of the fastest growing indigenous media outlets in Kenya.
Nyakundi said he received the message from Manchester United on his email early Saturday morning, something he says he didn’t take for granted.
Nyakundi is a veteran sports journalist who served at KBC TV and radio where he gained vast experience in production and sports coverage before he left to pursue other media-related interests.
He also had a brief sting with QTV and later Mediamax Network as a Sub-Editor for People Daily, the same period when he co-hosted K24 Alfajiri with veteran media personality Jimmi Gathu.
