World football governing body, FIFA, have confirmed they are investigating the KSh135 million outside broadcasting van that has not been delivered to the Football Kenya Federation.
Through an email to Kurunzi, a FIFA spokesperson said Zurich will communicate their decision on the matter at the appropriate time.
“FIFA has been notified of the non-delivery of the FKF broadcast vans. We can confirm that FIFA has now recently received the report from FKF’s lawyers in this matter,” read the email in part.
“Since FIFA is currently evaluating the findings of the report, please note that any further comment on the matter would not be appropriate at this stage. Further updates will also be provided by the FKF in due course.”
Despite numerous requests for information, FKF has been quiet on the matter even when the world body has referred inquiries about the issue to Kandanda House.
Kurunzi first broke the story of the missing van in February and although the federation then dismissed the reports, recent weeks have seen the media focus the spotlight on the issue; sparking anger by Nick Mwendwa.
However, this latest communication from FIFA maybe the clearest indication yet that all is not well; coming just days after it was confirmed that FKF may have lost the KSh125 million it paid to British firm – WTS, which has gone into administration.
The federation is listed as an unsecured creditor, which means chances of recovering the money, whose payment is shrouded in mystery are close to nil.
