Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula has claimed the government has already settled dues owed to former Webuye Pan Paper workers.
The former Bungoma senator made the remarks during a July 12, 2026, event in Webuye East Constituency where he took part in a boda boda empowerment programme.
“Today, I joined boda boda groups in Webuye East Constituency for an empowerment programme, where I urged our people to remain united and support President William Ruto’s re-election bid citing the transformative development projects his administration has delivered across our region,” Wetang’ula said.
“I highlighted the settlement of over Ksh229 million in dues owed to former Pan Paper workers, the ongoing rehabilitation of Matulo Airstrip ahead of the launch of its 400-metre runway next month, the construction of the Webuye Market, and the expansion of the Rironi–Mau Summit–Eldoret–Webuye–Malaba highway to improve transport, trade and road safety, particularly at the Muhonja and Kaburengu blackspots.”
Masindie Muliro Stadium project
The former Sirisia Member of Parliament pointed out that the ongoing upgrade of the Masinde Muliro Stadium is almost complete.
“I also pointed to the near-complete Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi and the operational passport issuance centre as evidence of the government’s commitment to bringing development and services closer to the people,” the Ford Kenya party leader said.
“I called on eligible residents, especially the youth, to acquire national identity cards, register as voters, and turn out in large numbers on August 10, 2027, to safeguard these gains by re-electing President Ruto.
“I further urged our people to reject divisive politics and remain united in supporting the president’s development agenda for the continued progress of our region.”
Wetang’ula has been attending events deemed as political even though the court temporarily barred him and Senate Speaker Moses Wetang’ula from engaging in political activities.
