Vihiga ease relegation fears with crucial win over Chemelil

By

Vihiga United eased their drop fears after edging fellow relegation struggles Chemelil Sugar 2-1 in a Sportpesa Premier League match played at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday.

Chemelil took a 37th minute lead to take a half time advantage but their laxity in the second half was punished when the hosts drew level on 67 minutes and grabbed the winner at the death of regulation time.

Victory moved Vihiga to 16th on the log with 24 points, while Chemelil drop to 14th.

Leaders Gor Mahia are in action against Western Stima in Kisumu on Sunday with the intention of stretching their seven-point advantage on Sofapaka.

Sofapaka will play Tusker in Machakos in a double-header fixture that will also involve Posta Rangers FC and Bandari.

Zoo Kericho will play Sony Sugar at Kericho Green Stadium and Kariobangi Sharks take on Kakamega Homeboyz at Kasarani.
