A Mombasa-based team will be in the final of this year’s Sportpesa Shield, either premier league giants Bandari or little-known SS Assad, after the two will clash in the semi finals.
The winner of the contest will bid to represent Kenya in the CAF Confederations Cup next season is they overcome either KCB or Kariobangi Sharks in the final.
KCB and Sharks booked places in the semis following respective wins over Bidco United and Bungoma Superstars in the quarterfinals played on Sunday, April 21.
Bandari and SS Assad prevailed over Western Stima and Congo Boys respectively.
Assad are this season’s surprise package and there was an expectant sense of excitement of two coastal teams facing off in the final.
It is the first time in the short history of the Sportpesa Shield for two teams from Mombasa to get to this stage of the tournament.
The semi finals are scheduled for May 12 with the final due on June 1.
