One child dead over suspected food poisoning as Seven others are hospitalized in Kisii

A child died and seven others fighting for their lives in hospital after  consuming suspected poisoned food at at  Village in Kisii County.

Three are being treated at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, one at Ogembo  Level  Four  Hospital and three others at Lenmark  Hospital.

Area chief, Naftal Ntabo, confirmed the incident saying the food may have been poisoned by someone who sneaked into their compound.

Mr Ntabo said that he got a report  from  the  clan elder  about  the incident, revealing that among the hospitalised was a Form 2 student at Nyaguta Secondary School.

He said the children complained of diarrhoea and vomiting on Sunday evening after taking githeri for lunch and ugali for supper.

Samples of the food have been taken to the government chemist for analysis.
