Ministry of interior officials have, for the second time, boycotted Deputy President William Ruto’s function after a similar show was witnessed in Nyeri County a month ago.
During the Friday visit to Nyamira County, no official from the national government’s interior ministry were seen anywhere near the rallies which the DP held across the County.
Nyamira County Commissioner, Amos Mariba, was said to be making final preparations for Madaraka Day celebrations at his office.
The County Commissioner did not have a representative and neither did they send his apologies. His juniors were also conspicuously missing from the rallies.
This did not go down well with the local leaders as one of the members of parliament who accompanied the DP was heard ranting over the way the government was treating the DP.
“This is a childish manner of handling things, why are they treating the DP as a lesser Kenyan,” wondered the legislator.
“He (Ruto) deserves to be accorded the security he deserves from the government he serves. This shows that there is a disunity in the whole thing.”
South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro, while addressing faithful at a Nyamira church, said the withdrawal of the former provincial administration from the DP’s meetings will not prevent him from ascending to the highest seat in Kenya.
“Whether they take the whole security from him (DP) it can’t prevent him from becoming president. We, the residents will be his security,” he said.
Ruto visited West Mugirango constituency where he laid a foundation stone to construct a KSh 100 million West Mugirango Technical Training Institute.
He said that the TTI will be complete within nine months.
“We will be here after nine months to open the school. Our government has pumped KSh100 million to construct this facility which will solve the youth unemployment issue,” Ruto said.
He later presided over a church funds drive in Nyamira Town and Nyamiranga in Borabu Constituency, where he donated over Ksh. 3 million.
Governor John Nyagarama, Senator Erick Okong’o and Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo are said to have deliberately boycotted the event.
