Kirinyaga man burns wife with stove for cooking rice instead of githeri

A Kirinyaga man has left his 27-year-old wife with serious burns after throwing a burning stove towards her.

This happened after the said man asked his wife to prepare githeri but instead she did rice.

Peter Ngugi, 32, got angry when he came home to find rice instead of his preferred githeri, throwing the burning stove at her.

She was rushed to a private hospital where she is receiving treatment for the burns.

The couple had been married for two years and have two children. They lived in Ngurubani Village, Mwea.

Mwea East acting OCPD confirmed the incident and said the man was in polce custody waiting to be arraigned.
