Diamond Trust Bank has since evolved from a predominantly Kenyan commercial bank into one of East Africa’s leading regional banking groups. Diamond Trust Bank:  What the numbers mean

Diamond Trust Bank generates income from principal sources namely Net Interest Income, Fees & Commission Income and Foreign exchange trading.

The lender’s Pre- Tax profit was up 26% to KSh 14 billion while Earnings per Share improved significantly by 23% to KSh 33.65.

According to Diamond Trust Bank financials, Revenue growth remained healthy despite a declining interest-rate environment. Profit after Tax grew faster than Revenue while the EPS grew faster that profit after tax. This indicates improving operational efficiency and disciplined cost management.

The lender’s balance sheet size grew to KSh 659 billion while customer deposits reached KSh 509 billion. Net Loans hit KSh 324 Billion while Shareholders’ Equity was above KSh 100 billion.

Diamond Trust Bank Rewards to Shareholders

What this means is that Diamond Trust Bank continues to compound shareholder capital through growth in deposits and expansion of the loan book as well as strong capital generation. Crossing KSh 100 billion in equity is a significant milestone that enhances lending capacity and resilience.

Directors of Diamond Trust Bank recommended an interim dividend of KSh 9.00 per share.

Although Diamond Trust Bank’s Return on Equity is below that of top-tier peers like Equity and Co-operative Bank, profitability is on an improving trajectory. This is through a combination of expanding earnings, increasing book value, and disciplined capital allocation, which suggests improving shareholder returns over time.

One of DTB’s strongest improvements has been credit quality. Management has successfully reduced bad loans. The lender has also strengthened provisioning, and improved recoveries. These actions enhance the lender’s future earnings quality.

A glance at the lender’s books indicate that Net Interest Income exceeded KSh 10 billion for the first time. Further, funding costs continued falling while customer deposits exceeded KSh 511.9 billion, a demonstration of continued customer confidence.
