Shabana financial woes continued to bite with majority of senior players boycotting training for the past two weeks citing lack of payment.
The situation is getting out of hand as regular players boycotted last week’s National Super League fixture against Administration Police.
The match ended 0-0 at the Gusii Stadium.
According to club sources, 15 players and two officials have been on strike for the past one week over delay in their salary.
Assistant coach Andrew Kanuli and fitness coach Andrew Ongwae are among those demanding for accrued salary and winning bonuses.
Head coach Gilbert Selebwa was agitated by last week’s situation that left him with just a limited number of players to pick for their match against AP.
The former AFC Leopards tactician, however, praised the players who showed up for the game and slammed the inciters.
“Despite our persisting problems which can be avoided by members putting their heads together and despite the many challenges we had during the week, I still laud these players, mostly reserves, who exhibited very outstanding performance and came out with a point against AP,” averred Selebwa.
He said it was unfair for the players to boycott training yet they had been paid three-quarters of the April salaries.
He accused some few members of the technical bench for inciting the players but maintains the club’s management hold the key towards the fate of those who boycotted training.
Kanuli denies allegations of sabotage, adding he had sacrificed a lot for the team and to accuse him of sabotage was wrong.
The players, Kanuli claims, were asking for April and May salary arrears,”
The coach said the team that played will be given a chance in the last two games against promotion-chasing Nairobi Stima in Naivasha on Wednesday and Talanta on Saturday at Gusii Stadium.
