Anglican church of Kenya, Kirinyaga Diocese Bishop Joseph Kibucwa, has raised concern how Kirinyaga County residents are not enjoying the county’s riches.

The Bishop called on the county government to carry out a survey to have a proper unemployed youth database to enable smooth job creation and employment opportunities.

Kibucwa  has urged the county government to enrol youths who have just completed their education to local polytechnics in order to equip them with necessary skills.

Speaking in Kerugoya in the company of other leaders from different churches pointed out unwillingness of the county government to resolve the ongoing strike, which has entered its fourth week.

“There is a need for a law to force all county employees to seek medical services in public hospitals since they seek private services,” Bishop Kibucwa said.

On the issue of unlicensed liquor outlets, the Bishop raised a red flag over unstemmed mushrooming of new bars and mostly near schools and residential areas.

He said, in Kirinyaga county, there were people trying to fight the vice but the top ones are encouraging it since they are giving them protection.

“Many youths are found lying on the roads drunk even at 10am and it shows how the youths are suffering.”
