Elijah Osiemo, Member of County Assembly for Nyamaiya Ward, Nyamira County is dead.

The first-time MCA, who was elected in 2022 on a UPA ticket, lost his life following a grisly road accident in Maai Mahiu area, which left two other MCAs in critical condition.

Duke Masira (Township) and Priscilla Nyachichi (Nominated) were traveling to Nairobi for an official engagement in their capacity as members of the Agriculture and Delegated Legislation Committees.

Eyewitnesses said their vehicle veered off the road and landed in a ditch as the driver attempted to overtake a motorbike, which was carrying charcoal just before Maai Mahiu. Osiemo, who is survived by a widow and three children, died instantly while Masira and Nyachichi sustained serious chest and head injuries.

They are admitted at Kijabe Hospital, with reports indicating plans are underway to airlift them to Nairobi Hospital.
