Gor Mahia breaks silence over rumours of mass exodus

Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions Gor Mahia have dismissed rumours alleging that more players are set to leave the club.

According to various reports circulating on social media, K’Ogalo are set to lose a number of players, but the club has poured cold water on the reports.

“The club wishes to address the numerous reports and lists currently circulating on social media regarding players allegedly set to leave the team and those purportedly being targeted for signing,” the statement posted on the club’s social media pages read.

However, the Premier League heavyweights confirmed that they have engaged a number of players, but no deal has been officially reached.

“While it is true that the club has engaged a number of players as part of its ongoing planning and evaluation process, no player has been officially signed or released at this time,” the club added.

“We therefore urge our supporters and stakeholders to disregard unverified information and speculation being shared across various platforms,” the statement added.

“The club remains committed to conducting its transfer and squad management processes professionally and in the best interests of the team,” the statement said.

“We appreciate your continued support, patience and trust as we work towards strengthening the team for the upcoming season,” the statement concluded.

Players linked with exit

Some of the players who have been rumoured to be on their way out are Gad Mathews, Joseph Levin Odhiambo, David Owiti (loan), Bryson Wangai, Fidel Origa, Geoffrey Okoth, Elly Owande, Christopher Ochieng, Mark Shaban (loan), and Reagan Ogola.

The rumours of more departures come days after the 2025/26 Premier League Most Valuable Player, Enock Morisson, left and joined Sudanese giants Al Merrikh.

The Ghanaian was a critical figure for Gor Mahia, who won the title race after sustained pressure from their traditional rivals, AFC Leopards.

On the other hand, Ingwe’s goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi has been linked with a move to Gor Mahia.
