Autopsy results on the deceased Dandora-based Human Rights activist have confirmed that Caroline Mwatha died while trying to procure an abortion.
She was five months pregnant at the time of her disappearance on February 6 before her body was found at the City Mortuary.
However, her family has dismissed the report saying there would be no logical explanation why she would attempt to abort a five-month old pregnancy get she was married through a church wedding.
Her disappearance and death had left the police on the receiving end, with her colleagues the security agencies of extra-judicial killing saying she had been targeted because of her efforts to unravel police executions of youth in Dandora.
Civil society and rights groups, who convened at the City Mortuary during the post modern exercise say there are efforts to cover up the murder.
