Kenya Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz under the tutelage of their owner has today fired embattled head coach John Baraza and his deputy Peter Okidi.

This comes after the Kakamega-based side failed to post positive results under Baraza’s three months term at the helm of the club.

Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula on Thursday called the shot before handing over the vacant positions to Edward Manoar and goalkeeping coach John Waw on an interim basis.

“We have parted ways with head coach John Baraza and his assistant coach Paul Okidi for failing to give us the results we want. Edward Manoah and goalkeeper trainer John Waw will remain on a temporary basis as we look for a new coach,” Shimanyula said.

Baraza was appointed by the club in October last year, replacing former team coach Bernard Mwalala who led the team to a second-place finish in the previous season.

Kakamega Homeboyz are currently eighth in the FKF Premier League table having won five of their 15 games played. They are 10 points behind leader Nzoia Sugar FC.

Yesterday KPL pacesetters Nzoia Sugar rallied from behind to beat hosts Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 at Utalii Sports Ground, Nairobi.

Kariobangi Sharks took an early lead through Keith Imbali’s seventh-minute strike, a lead that would last until the breather.

Joseph Mwangi levelled for the Millers in the 60th minute before bagging his brace ten minutes later.

Sharks’ Timothy Ekhavi scored in his own net with 15 minutes to go to ensure that Salim Babu’s side walked home with maximum points.

The win was Nzoia’s ninth of the season and extend their lead in the 18-team league to 31 points, four above second-placed Police.

Kakamega on the other side sits eighth in the league table on 21 points, 10 adrift of Nzoia Sugar.
