The Embassy of Israel in Kenya has announced fully-funded and partial scholarships for Kenyan students to pursue a Master’s program in African Sustainable Communities at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

This opportunity aims to strengthen educational ties between Israel and Kenya while focusing on sustainable development across the African continent. Qualified Kenyan candidates from various academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply before the upcoming deadlines.

Program focus and structure

The interdisciplinary program explores sustainable development, community empowerment and social change in African societies. Students will spend their first year studying in Israel before undertaking fieldwork in African communities during the third semester.

The 18-month program consists of core classes, electives, and either a thesis track or an applied project track. Participants apply theoretical knowledge gained in class to real-world community projects in Africa.

Scholarship details and coverage

Tuition for the full program stands at approximately USD 10,000, excluding additional fees. Both full and partial scholarships are available based on academic merit and financial need.

Applicants require a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Key documents include academic transcripts, a passport copy, curriculum vitae, two recommendation letters and two essays.

Registration opened on 1 February 2026. The deadline for international students and full scholarship applicants is 1 May 2026. Classes commence on 18 October 2026.

Interested candidates must complete both the university application and the program-specific internal form. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an online interview.

This initiative reflects continued cooperation between Israel and Kenya in higher education and sustainable development.
