Commonwealth defending champion Ferdinand Omanyala will now shift his focus to Mondeville Meeting on Wednesday.

This comes after the Kenyan sprinter equalled his national record in 60 metres indoors at the Elite Indoor Track Miramas meeting in France a fortnight ago.

Omanyala clocked a record time of 6.60 seconds in his last Bronze level event finishing second behind Arthur Cisse of the Ivory Coast at the Elite Indoor Track meeting in Miramas, France.

The mark was not only a new national record but also a new meeting record that had been standing for the past 17 years.

Soon after the event in Mondville, Omanyala will head to France’s capital for the Paris Indoor Meeting on 11 February before concluding his French tour on 15 February in Lievin where he broke his own national record.

At the same time Commonwealth Games 800m champion Mary Moraa also looks to start her maiden indoor appearance at Orlen Copernicus Cup on Wednesday at Arena, Toruń Poland.

Moraa will be up against Olympics silver medallist Keely Hodgkinson and Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji.

Once Moraa is done with the Orlen Copernicus Cup the world 800m bronze medallist, will head to France for the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais on 15 February at Arena Stade Couvert, Liévin.

She will wrap up her indoor tour with the World Indoor Tour Madrid 2023 on 22 February in Madrid, Spain.

Another Kenyan, Collins Kipruto will seek to claim his first indoor meet victory of the season as he goes up against Sweden’s Andreas Kramer.

Kramer is the winner of two indoor legs this season at Folksam GP Stockholm Indoor Games and Gothenburg Games in Sweden this year
