Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side Police FC has confirmed the signing of Kenyan international defender Abud Omar for an undisclosed period.

The talented left-back joins the club as a free agent having been without a club since July 2022 after terminating his association with Greek side AE Larissa after one year.

Omar joins a top-form Police side which is currently placed sixth on the log after playing 16 rounds and accumulating 28 points.

His imminent move ends transfer speculations, as he was previously linked with a move to Greece’s second-tier outfit Kalamata.

This will be the first signing Police have made as they seek to cement their position as title contenders having brought on board former Gor Mahia defender Harun Shakava, Francis Kahata, and deadly striker Elvis Rupia.

Omar comes back home after nine years plying his trade in different countries around the globe among them Cercle Brugge in Belgium,Slavia Sofia in Bulgaria,Hungarian side Asociația Club Sportiv Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe among others.

The playmaker has also had stints with Tusker FC and Mombasa-based Bandari FC.

Despite being a common name in the local scene, Omar has also made his contribution to the national team as a Left back, having featured for Harambee Stars during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt where he played in all group matches against Algeria, Senegal, and Tanzania.
