The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has rolled out affordable bus shuttle services to three major national parks to make holiday travel easier for Kenyans and visitors during the festive season.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 16 November 2025, KWS said the shuttle services will begin operating on Saturday, 20 December, offering a convenient option for park visits without the need for private vehicles.
KWAS said the buses will serve Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park and Lake Nakuru National Park, with schedules and fares varying by location.

For instance, at Nairobi National Park, the service will run two trips daily, at 9 am and 2 pm. Pick-up points will be at Nagol Ivory Park and the park’s main gate. Adult Kenyan citizens and East African Community (EAC) nationals will pay KSh1,500, while children will be charged KSh750. Adult residents who are non-Kenyans and non-EAC nationals will pay KSh2,000, with children paying KSh1,000.
For Aberdare National Park, the shuttle will operate one daily trip, departing at 9 am from the Nyeri Post Office. Adult citizens and EAC nationals will pay KSh 1,000, while children will be charged KSh 750. Resident adults will pay KSh1,500 and children KSh1,000.
Moreover, Lake Nakuru National Park will have two daily trips at 9 am and 2 pm. Fares are set at KSh1,750 for adult citizens and EAC nationals and KSh850 for children. Resident adults will pay KSh2,000, while children will be charged KSh1,000. The designated pick-up point will be at the railway area near the police station.

The bus services
The shuttle services, which will mainly operate on weekends and public holidays, are aimed at enabling tourists to enjoy game drives without using their own vehicles.
“Starting this weekend, 20th December, we’re bringing back the bus shuttle service on weekends and public holidays only through the festive season as part of the Jiachilie in Kenya Parks holiday campaign,” KWS wrote on X.
“Explore our parks with ease at: Nairobi National Park, Aberdare National Park, Lake Nakuru National Park. Affordable, convenient, and perfect for family adventures this holiday season,” it added.
The announcement comes a day after the government said it would reinforce surveillance along major transport corridors to enhance safety during the festive season.
