Kenyan chess prospect in need of financial aid

Amor who is seeking sponsorship through her training club, Victoria Chess Club in Kisumu is looking for roughly 247, 271 Kenyan Shillings which will cater for her travelling expenses, Accommodation and meals, registration fees, and uniform just to mention a few.

She participated in the just concluded Kenya National Youth Chess Championship where she played in the Under-20 category where she emerged as position 2 out of 199 participants in her category.

The Kisumu-based chess player has been one of the top rising prospects in Chess and has been consistent with her positive results while winning several competitions along the way.

She currently participated in Lusaka, Zambia where she represented the country at the African Youth Chess Championship 2022.

The 10-day competitions saw Skylar emerge in the fifth position in her category — Under 10 girls’ category.

She has also won other accolades having participated in different tournaments across the county and continent at large.

The accolades include the Kenya Youths and Cadet’s chess championship back in 2022 where she emerged in position three before going on to participate in the Kisumu Open classical chess tournament and the National qualifiers in Mombasa.

According to Amor her biggest dream is to hold the title of a Grandmaster. Grandmaster is a title awarded to chess players by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).
