Football Kenya Federation Premier League heavyweights Gor Mahia were forced to cut short their celebrations after fans invaded the pitch in awe after K’Ogalo were declared the 2022/2023 Champions.

A sea of humanity invaded the Kasarani National Stadium soon after the local football champions were announced this season’s champions to celebrate the win forcing the players to celebrate their win in the locker room.

K’Ogalo entered the final day leading the defending champions Tusker by a point and needing victory away at City Stars to guarantee success at the end of a deeply competitive season.

The newly crowned champions had fallen a goal down to Samuel Kapen’s opener after a barren first half, but they recovered to win convincingly with Benson Omalla, Peter Lwasa, Austin Odhiambo, and Alpha Onyango on target.

On the other hand, second-placed Tusker FC got the job done with a 4-0 thrashing of Vihiga Bullets, but their effort still left them a point shy as they surrender the league title for the first time since 2020.

The Robert Matano-coached side showcased their class by thrashing hosts Vihiga Bullets 0-4 in their last FKF Premier League match this Season which was staged at Mumias Sports Complex Kakamega County.

Tusker went ahead in the 4th minute of the first half when the ever-present striker Deogratius Ojok headed in Siwa Shaphan cross before Shami Mwinyi curled in the second goal with his right foot in the 44th minute to hand the visitors a comfortable lead.

Second-half substitute Stewart Omondi scored a brace in the 83rd and 86th minute respectively to hand the three points to the brewers, but it was not enough to snatch the win from the mighty K’Ogalo.
