Ruto steals the show in Kapsabet Boys uniform at centenary celebration
President William Ruto stunned many Kenyans on Thursday when he wore the uniform of Kapsabet Boys High School during the institution’s centenary celebrations.
The president joined hundreds of alumni and students to mark 100 years since the prestigious national school was established in Nandi County. The school is renowned for its long history of academic excellence and producing notable leaders.

Ruto was joined by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and Immigration Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang. The three leaders wore the school’s maroon, white and grey uniform to show unity. As alumni of the school, their appearance highlighted the pride they have in the institution that shaped them.
Principal reveals old student records
School principal Kipchumba Maiyo revealed old records about the president. He said the records showed Ruto had an outstanding character when he joined the school in 1985 as student number 5065. He slept in cube five of Cheruiyot dormitory. Maiyo noted that Ruto paid fees of KSh2,610 per term, which he cleared on time. His remarks drew laughter from the audience.

Earlier, Ruto visited Kapsabet Girls High School where he donated KSh1 million for student lunch after a request by the head girl. He humorously noted that the girls school has old boys because it was originally a boys school when it opened in 1924.
The events underscored President Ruto government commitment to education. By wearing his old school uniform and engaging directly with students, the president reminded many Kenyans of the important role national schools continue to play in nation building. The centenary celebrations at Kapsabet Boys High School will be remembered not just for the milestone, but also for the nostalgic and unifying images of the president in school uniform.
