A High Court Judge was set to swear in Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro Thursday morning, to take over from Ferdinand Waititu who was impeached.

Judiciary said the oath will be administered Justice John Onyiego.

“High Court Judge John Onyiego will today Thursday, January 30, 2020, preside over the swearing in ceremony of the new Kiambu Governor James Nyoro. The event will be held in Kiambu, at 8 am,” the judiciary’s public affairs and communication department wrote to the media.

Nyoro has been acting Governor since July when Waititu was charged with KSh588 million corruption case alongside his wife and some county officials. As soon as he took plea in court, he was ordered to stay away from office until his case is heard and determined.

More trouble was to follow in December when MCAs passed an impeachment motion which was validated on Wednesday night by the Senate, effectively sending him home. Sources say he is mulling a court option to overturn the Senate decision.
