Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has dismissed claims by comedian and businessman Sammy Kioko that he supplied goods to the county government and is owed payment.
In a statement issued on 31 March 2026, Ndeti said Kioko is not a registered supplier with Machakos County, contradicting his public assertions. She emphasized that official procurement records do not list him among approved vendors engaged by the county administration.
The governor said the claims had generated public attention following an incident in Machakos Town, prompting the county to clarify its position and reaffirm adherence to procurement laws and procedures.
Supplier dispute and call for restraint
Ndeti clarified that the contract to supply inspectorate uniforms was awarded to Movata Designs, which she said followed due process and remains the legally recognized supplier.
She added that any individual seeking to act on behalf of a contracted company must present valid legal documentation. This includes a Power of Attorney, formal authorization from the company, or representation through a qualified advocate.
The governor also condemned unrest linked to the dispute and called for calm among those involved. “As a County Government, we do not condone violence in any form and we urge all parties to exercise restraint and allow lawful and orderly processes to prevail,” she said.
Ndeti said the county remains committed to transparency and accountability in its operations, noting that all procurement engagements are documented and subject to verification.
Authorities have not indicated whether further action will be taken regarding the claims. However, the statement underscores the county government position that only duly registered and contracted entities are eligible for payment under its procurement system.
