The United Democratic Alliance has announced that it will conduct party nominations on March 28, 2026, for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat and two county assembly positions.

According to a notice released on March 16, the nominations will also cover the Member of County Assembly (MCA) positions in Porro Ward, Samburu West constituency, Samburu County, and Endo Ward, Marakwet East constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

UDA called on interested aspirants to apply through its online portal, with a registration window open from March 17 to March 20 at 5:00 pm.

“Registration is only considered complete after both registration and payment are successfully done through the portal,” the party emphasized. Aspirants will pay nomination fees via M-Pesa STK push prompted by the system, or through the party’s Equity Bank account.

Nomination fees and guidelines

The fee structure requires aspirants seeking the National Assembly ticket to pay Sh250,000 for male candidates and Sh125,000 for female aspirants, youth, and persons with disabilities. MCA aspirants will pay Sh50,000 for male candidates and Sh25,000 for female, youth, and PWD candidates. Fees are non-refundable.

Background and upcoming by-elections

The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of MP Johana Ng’eno in a helicopter crash. Porro Ward MCA Patrick Leerte passed away in December 2025, and Endo Ward MCA Jeremiah Kibiwott Toryebe died in January 2026 while receiving treatment in Nairobi.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set the by-election timelines: nominations on April 15 and 16, campaigns from April 15 to May 11, and voting on May 14, 2026. UDA’s March 28 nominations aim to identify candidates in advance of these deadlines.
