Gor Mahia expelled from the 2023-24 CAF Champions League
FKF Premier League champions, Gor Mahia have been expelled from next season’s CAF Champions League after failing to pay three of their former players moneys owed to them.
The record Premier League champions had until 1700 hrs EAT to settle dues owed to the departed trio but failed to do that on time hence the expulsion.
The three players are Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu, Congolese attacker Yangayay Sando Sando and Malian goalkeeper Adama Keita.
The three, who have since departed the club had reported the matter to the world football governing body FIFA over the accrued dues.
The FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber had given K’ogalo enough time to settle the dispute but it seems Kenya will have to replace the 20-times League champions with another club for the Champions League whose draw will be conducted on Friday afternoon.
CAF had instructed Gor Mahia to pay all the three players by Thursday 1700 hrs or else they’ll be locked out of the CAF CL draw.
Tusker FC finished runners up in the just concluded season have been tipped to take K’ogalo’s place.
